Obama Monkey

Really, did people really take offense to that? I hear that a couple from Sandy, Utah dressed a sock monkey to look like Obama. I dress my monkeys up in all different ways, whatever suits the fancy at the time. The good folks that enjoyed their monkeys and dressed one up like their favorite candidate should not be getting hate mail, and even death threats. I know very little about it, except that I heard they were supporters. People sure need to get on with the good stuff of life and stop looking for things that aren't there. Mean People do indeed suck! Love, Carol

Monkey Love

What's up with the monkeys? Well, when I was a kid, there was this funny guy made of red-heeled socks in the toybox at my Grandma's. I'm told it was the thing to play with somewhere along the 1930's and 40's since the materials were available, and viola! A child's toy! Well, as we get older I guess nostalgia creeps in. I bought a tiny little sock-monkey keychain at a convenience store a few years back. Next thing you know I'm on the quest for the stuff to make a monkey of my own.

I've made several and used to sell them. Now I make groups of Sock Monkeys 10 at a time (which takes a very long time) and dress them up (which is the fun part) and sell 9 of them, and donate one either as a gift or for a charity. If anyone knows where to get good deals on clothing (guess it's usually bear clothing that I end up with), I'd love to hear about it. I went to a site the other day to search for ideas and was warned there was a big 'ol virus so you have to be careful where you look, ok?

OMGosh have you seen the "red hat" outfit at Michael's? It's so dang cute!

That's all for now. Love to hear your sock monkey thoughts. Next blog will be authored by one of my very own monkeys. I actually own 2 of them (plus the mini monkey keychain) and they're well-traveled so they have stories and pictures, you know!
